A: On World Communications Day, 2002, Pope John Paul II wrote: "I dare to summon the whole Church bravely to cross this new threshold, to put into the deep of the Net, so that now as in the past the great engagement of the Gospel and culture may show to the world 'the Glory of God on the face of Christ (2 Cor. 4:6)." The Catholic Church has been given the commission to "put out into the deep" and use the Internet as part of the New Evangelization. The reason that the Church of the diocese of Grand Island has chosen to have a Web site is to provide a place for Catholics and non-Catholics to come and find information about the diocese, its parishes, schools, offices, and people. For more information, see the Site Map. Q: When is the content updated? A: The site is updated whenever something important such as a new Web site for a parish or an updated e-mail addresses come to our attention. The main content of the pages, however, comes from the Directory. The Directory has all the information about the parishes, priests and offices. This comes out every September, so it is at that time that a large portion of the factual information included in the site will be updated. Q: When is Mass at St such-and-such Parish? A: Mass times for parishes located in this diocese are on the Mass Times page. If you are looking for Mass times outside of this diocese, try the respective diocese's Web site or visit http://www.masstimes.org/. This is a site devoted to traveling Catholics and included are mass, reconciliation, adoration, and other such times. Q: Where can I find information on the Catholic Church? A: You can go to a myriad of sites, among such are: These are sites that provide information on many aspects of the Church, current social teaching/practice, as well as Church documents and doctine. Q: Can you find burial records, people with whom I went to school and other information not listed here? A: Unfortunately not, but good places to go for that information are to the school or parish itself. You can also turn to the Chancery Office for other questions. Q: May I copy any of the information here? A: Please see our Privacy Policy and
the Terms
and Conditions for use of this Web site. |
