"The ministry of justice and service nurtures in
young people a social consciouseness and a commitment to a life of justice
and service rooted in their faith in Jesus Christ, in the Scriptures,
and in Catholic social teaching; empowers young peole to work
for justice by concrete efforts to address the causes of human suffering;
and infuses concepts of justice, peace, and human dignity into
all ministry efforts."
-USSCB Renewing the Vision!
Here are some organizations that
can help you help your youth encounter and live out their Christian call
to service, justice and peace. Feel
free to research with your youth for other organizations that make a
differece, and let us know if you find any that we might want to include
on our list.
The most important thing you can do for your youth's education is to help them come to an awareness of justice and service issues and help them understand the Catholic Tradition of Service and Justice. It can be overwhelming to think about all the world's problems and to look at the limited scope of any one person's action, but we have a Christian responsibility to act with itegrity in our own lives and this means paying attention to the poor and working for justice for all our sisters and brothers. Encourage your young people to do their own research and find oganizations that they feel call them to live out their Christian call.
I am only one,
but I am still one.
I cannot do everything,
but still I can doe something:
and because I cannot do everything
I will not refuse to do the something that I can do.
