Catholic HEART Workcamp
Our Mission
Our mission is twofold. First, to enrich the lives of others: We will
revitalize and beautify homes of the elderly and others who cannot
afford needed repairs.
We will work in food distribution centers and,
also, interact with children of low-income families, brightening their
lives in daycare centers.
Second, to enrich our own lives: We emphasize
relational ministry, hands-on service, and prayer. By joining together
as the Body of Christ, giving
of ourselves and performing acts of mercy, we will be living out our
baptismal call to serve others. Loving our neighbors and sharing our
gifts will build self esteem and inspire us to ongoing service in our
local communities.
Throughout the workcamp we will have many opportunities
to experience God’s love. We will hear His invitation to renewal
and be motivated to deepen our faith commitment.
Service Activities
During the day, young people will be organized into teams to work on
projects. The teams will make repairs and improvements to homes that
have been pre-selected and prepared by local community agencies, work
with underprivileged children in local daycare centers, or help feed
needy families by working in food distribution centers.
Each team will
consist of six young people and one adult leader from different youth
groups.
Evening activities will include: games, skits, singing, Youth
Liturgy, prayer, lots of fun, teaching, plenty of laughter, and community
building.
Each workcamp will have a free day for groups to have some fun
together. Registrants will receive (upon receipt of their deposit) information
on attractions and other fun places to go in their host city.
Transportation
or the costs of "free day" activities
are not included in the workcamp fee.
Motivational Programs
Every morning and evening will be filled with an
energetic program that will inspire, stimulate and motivate participants
to serve others.
You will experience learning activities and high-tech
programming at its best. Young people are actively involved on-stage
with prayer services,
games, skits, videos, testimonies, dramas, singing and youth liturgies.
Each session will include community building, loads of fun, laughter
and messages that will inspire participants to grow closer to Christ.
