Staff Opportunities

Beginning in June, 2000, Higher Ground III was launched as the next step in the Higher Ground family. In 2004 the Higher Ground III name was changed to Higher Ground College Retreat.

It is directed toward young adults who have attended Higher Ground II or who are one year out of high school (even if they haven't attended Higher Ground or Higher Ground II).

The Higher Ground College Retreat is built upon the spirit, the experience and the foundation of Higher Ground and Higher Ground II.

The retreat experience is based upon the Biblical pattern of Apostleship:

• First, one is called to a relationship with Christ, by developing methods of prayer and by discerning one's call to follow Christ.
• Second, one is taught the way of Christ, by training in Christian leadership skills.
• Third, one is sent on a mission for Christ, by developing an action plan and a plan of follow-up that
  young people can accomplish after the retreat is completed.

The overall purpose of the week is to enable young people to explore the ways they are sent into the world as Apostles of Jesus Christ and to create action plans to carry out that mission.

The Higher Ground College Retreat will be held near Cozad at Camp Comeca. The week begins at 4 p.m. CT, Monday and ends at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday.

The cost of the week is $150.

Refund Policy:

If, for some reason, you will not be able to attend, we will refund your fee, providing you notify us before the registration deadline for your particular week (16 days prior to the week).  If notice is not given before the registration deadline for your particular week, only $75 of your registration fee will be refunded.  If you do not show up for your week without contacting us before 5:00 p.m. on the Thursday before your week, no money can be refunded.  This is necessary because there will most likely be participants waiting in line in case someone cancels.  We do not want anyone to be deprived of the opportunity to experience HIGHER GROUND COLLEGE RETREAT.

Financial assistance is available on the basis of need, through the Youth & Young Adult Ministry Office.

At this time, transportation to the Higher Ground College retreat will be the responsibility of the participants.

Higher Ground Retreats™, the Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry, and the Diocese of Grand Island reserve the right to use photos and video of participants and staff for marketing and publicity purposes.
