State Fair Masses were Aug. 29 at Sept. 5 at Fonner Park in Grand Island. Father Tom Ogg celebrated Aug. 29 while Bishop Emeritus William J. Dendinger celebrated Sept. 5. Both Masses were well attended with 130 on Aug. 29 and 165 on Sept. 5.

Gracie Woods, Grand Island Central Catholic junior, won the Nebraska Catholic Conference’s statewide Pro-Life Essay Contest for her work from the 2020-2021 school year. She received a $150 prize, as will Grand Island Central Catholic. The contest was sponsored by the Bishops’ Pastoral Plan for Pro-Life Activities.

The Rev. Robert Francis Chamberlain, 91, of North Platte, died May 1 at Linden Court. Father Chamberlain was born January 11, 1930, to Robert Chester and Margaret Frances (Schrader) Chamberlain in Sutherland.
In reflecting upon the “consequences” of the COVID-19 outbreak throughout the world, one that readily comes to mind for me is the adaptations we as the Church are making by means of technology. In fact, the restrictions placed upon us by civil authorities has moved the Church to use what technology we already have at our disposal
Father Bryan Ernest, pastor at St. Luke’s Church and St. Luke’s School in Ogallala, calls her the “last of the Mohicans.” Although she’s not a Native American, the “Mohican” Father Ernest is referring to is Sister Loretta Krajewski, O.S.U., principal/head teacher at St. Luke’s School.
