Divine Mercy Feast to be celebrated at St. Mary’s Cathedral
and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church
GRAND ISLAND, NE – The Pro-Life Office of the Diocese of Grand Island, St. Mary’s Cathedral, and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grand Island will sponsor events for the Feast of Divine Mercy on Sunday afternoon, April 28, 2019. Bishop Joseph G. Hanefeldt, the Bishop of the Diocese of Grand Island, announced that the theme for the Feast is “Divine Mercy for All of Life’s Choices”.
The events start with a Mexican lunch at 12:30 PM at St. Mary’s Cathedral Square at 112 South Cedar Street in Grand Island. At 2:45 PM, there will be Eucharistic Adoration with the Chaplet of Divine Mercy at Blessed Sacrament Church, an outdoor Eucharistic Procession from Blessed Sacrament Church to St. Mary’s Cathedral, and priests available for Confessions. Blessed Sacrament Church is located at 518 West State Street in Grand Island. Busses will be available at St. Mary’s for those that participate in the outdoor procession. Busses depart from St. Mary’s at 2:10 PM.
The Feast, started in 2003 by St. Pope John Paul II, celebrates the universal availability of Divine Mercy as a result of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
