At the core of all abuse and exploitation is a failure to recognize the life and dignity of all human persons. While Safe Environment Training is an important tool in fulfilling our Promise to Protect, the goal of our training it to move beyond creating safe places in our parishes schools and programs. The goal of our training is to create a culture of healing and protection where the life and dignity of every human person is recognized and all can experience the kind of loving relationships God intended for them.
The primary focus of Safe Environment Training is to educate adults in recognizing, responding, and reporting sexual abuse and exploitation; and in implementing strategies to reduce risk and promote right relationships. Safe Environment Training is available in every parish and school in the diocese and additional sessions can be scheduled for groups through the Child Protection Office at:
308-382-6565 or cpo@gidiocese.org.
Continuing Education also offered annually. Topics vary by year, providing greater breadth of knowledge regarding various risks to minors and vulnerable adults and /or greater depth of knowledge in specific strategies for prevention or healing.
